CNN Report on Reno Air tragedy

CNN provides breaking news coverage of events at the 2011 Reno Air Show today when a P51 aircraft believed to have been the Galloping Ghost piloted by Jimmy Leeward crashed in the box-seating area immediately in front of the grandstand.

Jet Across American Expansion Pack Released

Jet Across America - a new Mission Expansion Pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator X - has been released. The expansion pack was produced by xWerkz Studio and is being released through Flight 1 Software. A free demo version of the software has also been released. The demo contains the first mission in the series and can be downloaded from the Beta section of the Downloads page. The full series includes 11 flights visiting 14 airports in Flight Simulator X beginning at Bangor International Airport and continuing across the whole of the United States. The mission series culminates with a Pacific Ocean approach into Los Angeles International Airport. The full version retails for $19.95 and is being sold through Flight1 Software. You can download the full version through the Flight 1 Software instant-install system by clicking here.

Carrier: All Hands

This has been out a while, but it's always a good show to re-run. One of our posters (jamarogers) suggested that I relink this. Here's the first episode of the PBS series "Carrier," produced by Mel Gibson. There's quite a lot of good stuff here for mission designers and also for pilots who enjoy the challenge of trying to land on a moving airport. Enjoy!

Air Crash Investigation - Cactus 1549

National Geographic takes you on-board US Airways Flight 1549 as two pilots struggle with limited options after impacting a flock of geese on takeoff from La Guardia International Airport in New York City.

After watching the movie, you can download the mission and try to land the aircraft yourself. Look for the "Miracle On The Hudson" mission in the Acceleration section of the Downloads page.
