I own this joystick and it is very well-constructed, heavy and solid. I highly recommend it. I've been pounding on this thing for years and it's never failed me.

Paired with a Saitek Rudder Pedals, the X52 provides the additional sensitivity and control accuracy for an almost real flight sim experience. If you fly the helicopters or jets in Flight Simulator, this is the joystick you need.

This flightstick features:

* Program your controller for each game using the powerful Smart Technology software. 3 mode settings and cool-touch metal pinkie switch provide enhanced programming options.
* Precision centering mechanism; no contact technology on X and Y axes and constant spring force improve control and increase durability.
* 5 position handle adjustment system to suit all hand sizes with soft-touch, contoured grip for maximum gaming comfort.
* Progressive throttle with resistance adjustment and detents for afterburner and idle.
* Illuminated buttons and enhanced gameplay through intuitive LCD Multi-Function Display.

If you're ready to increase your simming realism in the jets and helicopters, this is the joystick most simmers swear by.

Anybody out there?
Any ideas? Any advice?

Amazing. I'm the only person in the world who bought the worst joystick ever made, being EVERYONE else who owns a joystick here has one that is perfect... Rolling Eyes

Saitek/MadCatz gave me the same response when I asked them for help, too -NONE.

I'd have a better chance of getting the spammers here to help me out...

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated.

Sorry your having problems programming your flight stick. I do not own this one so can't really help you. I do own that brand though. Perhaps if you describe the actual problem you are having, in detail, the answer might be a universal one. I know mine was a bit confusing.

I know it is frustrating when something doesn't work but you might have to allow some time for answers here, especially for things other than mission related questions. Folk's are working hard during this economy and do not always have time or energy to check out the forum every day. I would also allow some time for Saitek to reply also. Do they have there own forum or is there an unofficial one you can check out?

FlightSim.com forums have a hardware section and are pretty active as far as the amount of posters go, give them a try too.

Good luck,
Brett

I appreciate your response Brett, thank you.

Yes, I read about this stick here in this thread, and at the other FS forums out there. I heard nothing but good things about it. I also had other MadCatz products in the past with no problems whatsoever, so that's mainly that's why I bought it.

I bought this stick about 2 weeks before x-mas. I plugged it in, and it asked me to use the install disk that came with it (didn't have to do that with the Thrustmaster, it installed everything automatically in about a second and a half). I did so.
The stick itself works fine. Now when you go to program this x-52's Profile Editor, it crashes my PC to the blue screen of death every time.
I'm not crazy about using something that causes serious system crashes.

I contacted Saitek the same day. No response, except the 2 automated emails the day I filed the complaint ticket.
No success in hearing back from them either, even with checking in on my tickets at Saitek's support site, support.madcatz.com
6 weeks without hearing back from them is nothing short of very poor customer service imo.

I read about the stick here, so I was hoping someone could help me out if they had the same issues as I did. That's obviously not the case here, but that's why I posted my subject here.

My apologies for my bad attitude, but I'm becoming very frustrated overall with FSX and the platform in general.
It seems that you need top spend major money to get a decent product related to FSX to make FSX decently runable, and then this sim still finds a way to look and run like crap. W7, XP, it don't matter.
Cant say that about FS9...

The addons for FSX, most of them are overhyped and the customer support is terrible there too, with very few exceptions I found.
Many of those are also things I've read about in the various FS forums, all hyping how great this stuff is, and it's really crap.
All created to exploit unsuspecting people who bought Microsoft Flight Simulator X. On W7, XP, it don't matter. Caveat emptor, very true in the FSX world, no doubt.

Sorry guys, I'm liking FS9 much better. Anything I bought related to FS9 runs as promised, was not over-priced, and I never had to contact any FS9 addon seller about anything service-related -works as advertised.
Those selling the FSX addon stuff could learn from those FS9 addon guys, instead of thinking how to work their next scam, imo.

the writing's on the wall: maybe this FSX isn't for me.

I agree that the customer service you have received is pretty poor from Sateik. The only thing I can recommend is to delete and reinstall at this time and to keep writing the company(always leave any attitude out of correspondence no matter how frustrated you are at the time). It might be just one bad apple in the bunch, which does happen, it should not be a reflection on all there products. 95% of the time the problem does lie with the consumer not doing something correctly when installing, not saying that is the case here but these are some complicated things we are playing with here.

We are using different platforms and these products also need to preform across that spectrum. Everyone already knows that FSX has issues and this is compounded on top of the fact that it seems to work different in each PC that it is running on. I think I spend more time tweaking stuff than I do flying. I personally enjoy the challenge of getting it right and do alot of searching for tips that will make this happen. As far as the advertising part of it goes, it's just that advertising. Of course they will make the product sound better than it is, that's what advertising does. Luckily there are many forums out there to check out products before purchase, where word of mouth is the best equalizer. If the joystick you have has been getting good reviews than more than likely it is worth getting. If it does not preform up to the expectations you have heard or read about then there is something wrong with the item itself or it's installation. If you can't find other bitches in the forums about the crash you are experiencing then I would sway more toward the product or software being the culprit. Keep on top of the company with mature correspondence or return it and try something else.

Don't let a few problems with outside addons reflect upon FSX as a whole. It is a pretty advanced sim for its time and not without its own glitches but still a hoot to fly in.

I hope you get this problem fixed soon, wish I new more about it. Thanks for the apology to the folks here, they do this as a hobby and didn't sell you anything and are always willing to help.
Good Luck,
Brett
